Magic of great poets from India

Nationally acclaimed poets participated in the 18th Rashtriya Kavi Sammelan 2011 that was jointly organised by Hindi Bhashi Ekta Parishad and Rajasthani Seva Samiti at Gadkari Rangayatan this week.

THANE: Nationally acclaimed poets participated in the 18th Rashtriya Kavi Sammelan 2011 that was jointly organised by Hindi Bhashi Ekta Parishad and Rajasthani Seva Samiti at Gadkari Rangayatan this week. Organisers including advocate B L Sharma and Arun Joshi toiled hard to make the event a great success along with other organising committee members.

Outstanding personalities were felicitated for their valuable contribution in their specific field. Renowned writer Shanna Navre was honoured with Harivanshrai Bachchan Sahitya Ratna award for his contributuin in Marathi literature. Late Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan showed unparallel courage and sacrificed his life while fighting against terrorists on the 26/11 attack at Taj Mahal hotel in Mumbai. To pay a tribute to his memory, Maharana Pratap Shaurya Puraskar was bestowed upon him, which was received by his parents. The third awardee was Narsing Yadav who fought against all odds to win a gold medal in the Common Wealth games this year. He was felicitated with the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Gaurav puraskar for his achievements.
"Poetry is a great stress buster and I have tried it many times in my life," said Justice Chitre in his speech. Dr Satyapal Singh proved his love for poetry by reciting one of his poems.
The poetry recitation session was anchored by well known poetess Savitri Kochar. Poets were invited from every corner of the country. Manik Varma from Harda, Surendra Dube from Raipur, Vinit Chauhan from Alwar, Suneel Jogi from Delhi, Shashikant Yadav from Ujjain, Rajendra Malviya from Itarsi, Atul Jwala from Indore, Advocate Rashid Khan from Thane and Dr Suman Dube from Lucknow recited their catchy poems and audience enjoyed it heartily and showed their appreciation with thunderous applause.
The poets showcased their poetic talent and covered different topics ranging from current Political scenario to social topics, verses on emotional and personal experience and few of them sung their to the tunes
The mega event was graced by Chief Guest Justice Jayant Chitre, former Judge of Mumbai high court, special guests that included Dr Satyapal Singh, Additional Commissioner Mumbai Police, Municipal Commissioner R A Rajeev, Superintendent of Thane rural Vishwas Nagre Patil, Industrialist Ajitabh Bachchan and honourable guests Dr R T Rathod, former Police Commissioner of Maharashtra, D S R Sharma, Additional Commissioner food and medicine (Konkan region) of Maharashtra Dr Prem Shukla and Advocate Prakash Bhosle.
